Name: Characters with Bothersome Traits
Debut: Tetris Blast
I am the kind of person who is delighted by, among other things, a certain pairing of words that many (sad) people may never think to consider in their lives. This pair of words is "Tetris Characters". I have already told you about some of those in the form of personified blocks, but there are even more, and this will certainly not be my last time mentioning the topic!
Tetris Blast is a Tetris spinoff, in particular, a version of the Bombliss game mode made for the Game Boy. It is like Tetris, but each Tetri- or Tri- or Domino has at least one Mino that is a bomb! The standard completed row does not automatically disappear, but if it contains a bomb, that bomb will detonate, destroying blocks around it. And this is what I was doing, playing the standard mode, when every five stages, I was greeted by a new little critter dancing on a stage! What a lovely surprise! But who were these creatures?
It turns out this game also has a Fight Mode! Where you Fight some guys! The manual refers to them as characters with bothersome traits, so that's as close to a band name for them as we'll get. Let's meet them all RIGHT NOW!
Cubit Cubit is a bit spunchlike, but if our favorite sponge was a grumpy nudist! It is the most basic of all these creatures, and just wanders around. I like its round armless hands. A very easy guy to obliterate.
Scraptor No offense to Cubit, but Scraptor is already way more interesting! It's a very geometric creature, a square "diamond" whose body is split into two halves. It is actually one big mouth, and the halves detach on a tiny hinge to open and eat bombs! This was the very first of these creatures I saw, because it is the first one that dances in the intermission scenes. What an incredible first impression!
Gloop Gloop is a little cutie! It is like a drop a dollop a squeezing. It also looks like an extremely simplified cartoon whale! You know how there is a whale emoji and also a cartoon whale emoji? Gloop could be the next stage of evolution. I also really love the way it laughs. It looks so innocent, but then laughs in a way that looks SO mocking, it feels like the cuteness is a facade!
Creepa Creepa is another little cutie, which there are bound to be many of when looking at little guys exclusive to a Game Boy game. I like that it is cylinder-shaped, like it came out of a can, or is a can! Though it looks cylindrical, its bothersome trait is to make extra blocks. And I also like its shoes. If it didn't have the shoes, it would be as basic as Cubit, probably. But basic isn't bad!
Squidly Squidly is my favorite of these guys! Look at it!!! It is like they distilled everything cute about Creepa into an even cuter form! Its smile is smaller, more gentle. Its eyes are bigger and bulge from the sides of its head, like its namesake, a squid! It has no arms to make it feel even more like a Video Game Creature, and yet still wears those excellent shoes. I guess the shape isn't necessarily an upgrade from Creepa, but this would be precious regardless of shape, and I am neutral about the change. Actually, it reminds me of a well-used eraser, and now that I thought of that, I like the shape even more! If this wasn't enough, Squidly has the ability to make entire rows of blocks, and after it does this, it dances happily, like it knows you can't get it now. This would typically be rude, but it's so cute that it can't be rude. I think it is truly just delighted!
Dug Grub Dug Grub probably has the best name in the game! Any name related to larvae is a winning name to me! If my name was Maggie I would always specify "like maggot" when telling it to people. Dug Grub is like a blob with a frog's head, and its eyes bulge SO much that they sometimes even appear to be floating! It has the bothersome trait of eating Mega Bombs, which is one of the most bothersome traits of all, because those things are precious resources. But if anything has to have an Eating Something Large Special Attack, it would be a Frog Blob.
Shadow Shadow is a cheeky little potato of a cyclops creature. Oh so cheeky, but also seems to be a bit of a sore loser! Get over it, am I right? It's just Bombs. It has Squidly's row creation ability in addition to probably the coolest ability in the game: it is able to enlarge its eye and envelop the playing field in darkness, which momentarily freezes the player's actions! I guess that is how it gets its name. I also must assume that the reason the screen goes dark is that its eye gets so big and effective that it is Seeing all that light before any of us gets a chance to. Save some for me! *Shadow's pupil burps*
B-Boy Finally we have B-Boy. Probably short for Ball-Boy. But there are so many possibilities... Buddy-Boy? Buckaroo-Boy? Boisterous-Boy? Maybe his real name is Baby-Boy and his parents dote on him so much, and he changed it out of embarrassment. He also adopted a new persona. Smug. Mischievous. Don't worry, he'll probably grow out of it after middle school. But for now, he is a real Bothersome-Boy! He ALSO has stolen Squidly's row creation ability! Squidly is such a trailblazer and I think would be justified in suing. Worst of all, though, B-Boy has a Bomb Attack that can actually regenerate his own health! Not an orb to be underestimated! Indeed, this is an orb to restart the level multiple times as a result of. A real Bad-Boy!

shigaraki with a reader who also plays games and is rlly good at gun games and aiming? x3
eeee yes

✦•······················•✦•······················•✦•······················•✦
“damn”
Tomura’s voice came from behind you in the arcade. He’d have startled you if you hadn’t heard the rest of the league chatting somewhere close by. You’d been playing the game for a few minutes, and you’d hit every target with ease, a skill- or maybe a talent, you still weren’t sure- that you’d mastered through years of practice.
You’d only recently joined the league, and while some members were still cautious and distant with you (That burnt one in particular was fairly rude and avoidant) it seemed like you were fitting in well, although you were yet to go on your first mission.
“so do you always shoot like that?” He asked awkwardly, his hands shoved in his sweatshirt pockets. You smiled back at him. “Pretty much… ever since my big sister taught me how to aim” you said in response. He nodded, watching as you started up the game again, setting it to a harder difficulty.
It powered up once more, and you raised the connected toy gun glowing as I aimed it. Some of the targets began to move, fast and slow, and rather randomly, at least in Tomuras eyes. You on the other hand caught the pattern quickly, and in what seemed like seconds, had all targets down, bright lights flashing over your head as a speaker to the right proclaimed you ‘winner’
Naturally, he was shocked. He’d never really been a good shot before, especially considering that he’d prolly decay a gun if he ever got a hold of one, so unlike the others, he had a different view of your talent, which was, to him, exactly what you had.
“wow…that’s cool” he said, almost dumbfounded. You smirked, pretending to blow smoke away from the fake gun, offering him a wink
*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・'𝒜 𝒻ℯ𝓌 𝒽ℴ𝓊𝓇𝓈 𝓁𝒶𝓉ℯ𝓇'・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
Of course, this proved to be a skill not only in the arcade, but in missions as well. Watching you sweep in and take down targets faster than the hero Snipe himself was already cool enough, but the League had plenty of cool abilities attached, so Tomura didn’t overhype it…
Until later that day, of course
He sat on the couch, playing Apex all alone. Spinner was on a mission, twice was painting Togas nails, and Dabi was hunched over in the corner grumpy because Tomura even suggested he play with him.
And then you walked in, waving at everyone before you glanced at the screen and gasped. “Oh my gosh you play apex?” You said with a smile, looking over at Tomura. His eyes widened slightly at your excitement, but he nodded. “Yeah… wanna play? We can run duos or something-“ “lemme go get my switch!” You said excitedly, running back to your room. Tomura couldn’t help but smile, even as Dabi scoffed in the background, muttering “fuckin nerds…” (meanwhile he’s playing Tetris on his phone but to each his own I suppose)
Before Tomura could even get back to the menu you had flopped down on the couch beside him, your back rested against his shoulder, your legs crossed and kicked up on the arm of the couch opposite him. He didn’t say anything about it- he was quite used to your random antics at this point, but if you’d glanced over you would have seen him blushing a little.
After a few minutes you were ready to go, joining his party and starting a match. Out of the various characters to play as, his main was Revenant, essentially an emo creepy robot, and yours was Octane(ofc), a high-speed daredevil with such random lore that you couldn’t help but love him. He knew you played games sometimes, but seeing you dart around the map in game while yapping about your favorite weapons had him smiling to himself.
You’d touched ground at a pretty quiet spot, moving further into the map as the game continued. Initially, Tomura had assumed he’d carry the match… but he was sorely mistaken.
Not only were you marking enemies you spotted for him, but you were actually racking in most of the kills. He was impressed with how many times you ended up saving your ass as well as his own.
“Wow… you’re really good at this” he said near the end of the game, the ring around the map getting smaller as there were only a few teams left, including the two of you. You giggled and winked up at him, and he shook his head and rolled his eyes in response, propping his elbows on his knees as he looked back to the tv.
The last few moments of the round were a bit of a blur, and to save you the confusion, I’ll sum it up by saying the two of you outright destroyed the other three teams. You hopped off your seat as the word ‘victory’ crossed the screen, pumping your fists as he looked up at you and laughed, shaking his head once more. Even toga and Twice, no longer busy, had been watching the last few minutes and cheered with you.
“you people are crazy. Shut up.”
Dabi said gruffly from the corner. You rolled your eyes, glancing back down to Tomura with a “well?” Kind of expression, a smirk growing on your face. “We should play more often” he said, averting his gaze, his hoodie hiding the tinge of blush that now seemed to linger every time he looked at you.
He didn’t really mind it though. In all honesty, if he had to embarrass himself by blushing like an idiot every time you leaned against him like that, or gave him the looks you did, he wouldn’t mind being embarrassed all the time.

In case you were wondering what inspired the trap room from the episode "Into in The Bunker"/ shown in Journal 3:
I have to admit that my assistant really topped himself with the security precautions! F says this was inspired by the popular Russian arcade puzzle game “Soviet Blocks”, although I think it looks more like his beloved cube puzzle. Either way this ever-changing mechanical trap is designed to perplex and capture a creature of any possible size and shape. Sometimes I think how fortunate I am to be friends with F…because if this room is any indication, it would be terrifying to be his enemy! I have written down the security code here, because if I ever forget it, it will be the last mistake I ever make! - Stanford Pines, Journal 3
It's...Tetris.
It's not some...fanciful, elaborate scientific maze or related to whomever created the rubik's cube (or "cubic's cube", as Ford suggests) in anyway. It's... literally Tetris. Which is both hysterical (because OF COURSE it would be that in my face.) and infuriating (because what do you mean it was literally in my face.)
Anyway. It's Tetris. Tetris.
Maybe that was clear to everyone else, but not ya girl and now I need to go stare at the wall for a bit.
#gravity falls#fiddleford mcgucket#stanford pines#journal 3#can I blame math for this? I want to blame math for this somehow#so you see Tetris *is* what came up first as I started researching and I thought 'no-it couldn't be that easy'--and then it literally was#when I catch you Alex (this was my own hubris not his-but shhhh let me blame someone else for five minutes)

Hello! Can I request Starscream with a reader who loves video games, especially older "retro" ones please?
Anon you have waited so long, please accept this humble word train of inconveivale proportions, becuase this went from 'haha Screamy vs tetris' to 'holy shit I can't stop typing-'
Starscream x RetroGamer!Reader
HA!
Such primitive, meagre entertainment. How can you engage in something barely even fit for newsparks??
Yeah, Starscream is waving his ‘technological-race superiority’ around again. You’ve long since learned to roll your eyes, tune him out and turn the tinny volume on your console to maximum just to annoy him.
For all that he snorts and rolls his optics and waxes lyrical about how his games were played in high-speed roulette 5D stratospheric-chess - or whatever - you don’t fail to smugly notice how his wings twitch in time with the music. (Don’t bring it up or he’ll screech about how he can’t get the bouncy little tunes out of his head at 3am. It’s not worth your eardrums.)
And when he DOES pay attention, he’s the kind to aggressively backseat drive.
What’s worse, is that after breathing down your neck and screeching at you to “Jump HIGHER-” (Mario Bros is a relationship tester), he’ll cluck his tongue and smarmily coo at your game over screen until you finally snap and shove the comparatively tiny controller in his face.
The affronted shock lasts a millisecond before he huffs and says such childish little things are beneath him. Obviously.
Your petty revenge is to chat obnoxiously loud to Knockout and spread a rumour on the Nemesis that the Mighty Commander Starscream is too outdated to try anything new, clearly, I mean he’s just so old-
- much screeching shouting and scratched paintjobs later, you find out that he’s simply downloaded the games into his brain and fully intended to not breathe a word to you about it apparently until you died. Prideful bastard.
He HAD intended to tell you, but only after he had gotten an impossibly high score to beat so he could rub it in your cute squishy face.
In a beautifully ironic twist of fate, being as advanced as cybertronians are, the highly simple nature of most retro games actually renders them incompatible, like trying to run a floppy disk through a hadron collider. So while yes Star can play tetris on his break, he cannot simply blitz the levels as expected and call it a day, because the old games have such simple parameters in comparison to how he usually operates.
So he has to actually play.
With no instructions because of course this high strung high maintenance metal bird could not possibly deign to ask you how to play first. That would be demeaning. And he won’t google it either.
You can sit in smug, satisfied peace as you watch him slowly tick through several layers of frustration: wings twitching, claws tapping, optics whizzing to focus on platforms and little 8 bit enemies you can’t see.
But Starscream is still the Second in Command of the Decepticons. And the Decepticons have very stringent security measures.
Soundwave fucking manifesting outside your window one evening was enough to have you pray to every god you’ve ever heard of. Inscrutable, all knowing fucking Soundwave. You regret every conversation you’ve ever had on the Nemesis, oh god your house is probably bugged-
His face screen flickers to life. You blink, as a live stream of the Nemesis command deck appears.
You have, by dint of hanging around too much and a few close encounters with the Autobots, seen cybertronians on the battlefield before. It is nothing compared to the later levels of Pacman on the Nemesis bridge at 1 am.
Soundwaves inscrutable smiley face emoji pings your phone, almong with a simple, translated glyph.
“More? :)”
PS-
Soundwave is Pacman god. Knockout has a soft spot for the Mario games. Starscream fucking loves Galaxian and will die before he ever tells you this. Shockwave, logically, finds Tetris soothing.
Megatron plays pong on his throne sometimes when his usual brooding gives way to inevitable drug induced boredom. It spaces his eyes out to either side nearly completely. Starscream has screenshots of his gormless mug taped to his hab wall to shoot on occasion.
#thalassa responds#tfp starscream x reader#tfp starscream#transformers prime#x reader#starscream x reader#just picturing starscream on his last shred of sanity vs pacman or tetris fills me with glee#something about such a simple task but with limited range of movement and time really gets to me and with his famously low threshlod for#'thing that should be simple and quick but are not' i think it'd drive him spare#he likes galaxican tho because it reminds him of his own battles in space and in the air and some of his seeker pride shines through

Let's hear all about the history of chess, please!
Chess is an analog live-action computer game or, "game," invented in the year 1212 B.Y.A. by Shatranj Al-Chessinventir. Designed to teach local rulers about warfare and defending their kingdoms, the game simulated a royal court and its pawns with game pieces. The original pieces were as follows:
King: The ruler of the court, if captured, means the end of the game. Mostly a figurehead, he can only move one tile at a time.
Queen: The most capable piece, she does the most work, but capturing her is unimportant because apparently a woman who can do anything is worth far less than a man who can barely move.
Bishop: Like a real bishop, this piece can only move diagonally, and whenever it takes another piece, it must pray for absolution or it will go to Chess Hell or, "Chell," and burn in Chess Fire or, "Chire," for all Chess Eternity or, "Next Round."
Knight: A knight must move in an L shape as per the rules of Tetris, from which the earliest chess games were inspired. The knight is represented by a horse in honor of Mazura of Parapa Palace.
Royal Piss-Bucket Emptier: Now known as the "Rook" due to Victorian prudery, the Royal Piss-Bucket Emptier runs as far as needed in any cardinal direction because the historical job entailed speed and resolute direction.
Pawn: Also known as a "Serf" or "Retail Clerk," the Pawn is expected to die young and be replaced quickly without the royals so much as noticing, so worthless and ordinary is this piece that just wanted to survive and be with their family. Should a pawn make it to the opposite side however, it can become a Queen or any other piece, a lesson designed to teach players that if they betray their family and join the ranks of the enemy, they will be rewarded with fame, fortune, and optional gender fluidity.
Though only about 24 possible games are playable with chess, two less than tic-tac-toe, many books have been written on Chess Theory by lonely people hoping to impress someone with how smart they think they are. This has sadly never worked.
Chess grew popular in America in the 60s and 70s due to the celebrity of chess master Bobby Fischer, but declined soon after when Fischer claimed that Jews were to blame for everything bad, Jews were evil, and he hoped that all the Jews would die. Being Jewish himself, he then died. He was then dug up again (f8=P?) and reburied by order of the Bishop (Bxf8#).
Chess has only recently made a comeback owing to new and interesting chess variants such as 4 Player Bughouse Chess, Three-Man Chess, 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel, and Checkers (with chess pieces because I forgot where I put the checkers).
The most interesting thing ever to happen in Chess occurred in 2021 when the Double Bongcloud Position was introduced to top competitions. And that sentence isn't even unreality.

Headcanon that while he was still in the mafia, one of Dazai's goals was to save up money to buy an extra phone that would be used solely just to play games. He kept his burner phone on him at all times for mafia matters, then whenever he was bored, say waiting for Chuuya to finish up one of their missions by eliminating the enemy, he just whips out that extra phone and starts playing Tetris because it's one of the few games the phone can play.
Chuuya comes back to their rendezvous point covered in dirt, grime, and maybe the blood of their enemies, and he sees Dazai off to the side playing on his phone and is just like really? I was out busting my ass and you stood around here giving orders while playing a game on your phone?
Dazai tells him to wait one moment as he's finishing up a level then finally looks at Chuuya with a serious expression and nods. What else was he supposed to do in the meantime? Stand around? He didn't want to risk bringing his handheld and dropping it or something, so the phone was next best thing.
Chuuya rolls his eyes but on the way back to headquarters curiosity gets the best of him and he quietly asks if Dazai has any other games.

Ruby: Do you play video games?
Jaune: Not well, but yeah.
Ruby: Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean "not well"? Video games aren't a skill-based hobby. Sure, some games require skills, but it's not like you need to have perfect hand-eye coordination to play fucking Mario Party. You don't even need skill to play Tetris! You just move blocks around! So what do you mean you don't play games well?!
Jaune: ...I died and struggled to get past the first enemy in Dark Souls.
Ruby: The Asylum Demon?
Jaune: No. The zombie guy.

how im imagining ᵐʸ drifter's relationships with the hex. obvy subject to change once the expansion drops and we get to know them better
arthur: you know the sibling thing where you go open your sibling's door and talk to them about stupid shit and then flip them off or something and walk away without closing the door. she does that when he's in the security office. beyond that i don't think they have much of a personal relationship. years of fighting solo in duviri means she struggles with having a commander so she probably gives him heartburn when she fucks off to do her own thing in the field
aoi: they should be at the club. specifically drifter should be at the club learning how to stop fumbling women. aoi gets them shots because drifter says she doesnt get drunk. sadly drifter has only been drinking weird duviri beer as imagined by a teenager for most of her life so the first time she gets drunk off tequila and fireball and shit she freaks out and thinks shes actually dying and turns invisible in the bathroom. aoi drags her back out to dance and then they have a homoerotic midnight atomicycle ride back to base
lettie: seething because learning vazarin healing backfired and now her stupid void body won't let her manufacture "accidental" injuries. she can't even get a paper cut and ask lettie to kiss it better because she heals too fast. drifter is down horrendous for lettie but between immunity to mild injuries and a fear of rodents its just a disaster. meanwhile lettie likes drifter more than any of the rest of the team because at least drifter's dumbass attempts to play hero on missions don't require intensive care afterwards like arthur's "Tank Incident"
amir: listens and nods while amir explains the gameplay of caliber chicks 2 at 225 wpm for six minutes. tries playing with him but doesn't get the appeal so she just sits around while he plays and offers unhelpful and irrelevant advice whenever he dies. like "you should try parrying" when he loses tetris or "do a bullet jump" in a racing game. she also steals his energy drinks, which is probably good for amir but definitely bad for everyone else who has to deal with hopped-up drifter
quincy: drifter works best with him in the field out of all the hex members. he says it's because she's really good at being annoying and distracting and getting in the enemy's face with a shotgun so he can line up his shots. she says this is true, and thank you very much quincy thats sweet of you. drifter loves to be annoying and quincy is the only one smart enough to weaponize that. drifter is also permanently banned from shooting contests with quincy after she blew a hole in the wall with a plasma shotgun instead of using a normal gun for target practice
eleanor: oscillates between wanting to help eleanor and getting annoyed with her cryptic bullshit. also oscillates between thinking the mind control/telepathy thing is completely terrifying and thinking its awesome (and kind of hot). absolutely cannot stop asking eleanor weird questions and will keep it up until she gets the psychic equivalent of a sucker punch and her nose starts bleeding (which heals before she can get to lettie). sometimes she tells eleanor stories about the lotus.
#yes her name is just drifter she forgot her name in duviri and operator is enough of an unbearable teenager that she doesnt want it back#the operator and drifter relationship i have is sort of like what if gidoen and hrrow were siblings instead of weird lesbian catholics#anyway im very excited for the update i cant wait to see all these freaks for real#warframe#warframe 1999#do i tag all the hex members. no im lazy and i dont rmemeber anyones last names#but look at my post boy

ok, idea, Vocaloid platform fighter. so you have all the big names, Miku, Rin, Len, Kaito, Meiko, Luka. You also have some slightly smaller folk like Teto, Gumi, and Flower; but here is the twist, instead of alt costumes they have alt forms based on songs that changes their special moves and appearance.
So, like if you were playing as Teto you could select Tetoris Teto and you would then throw Tetris blocks and use a final-smash-like move would be crushing your enemy with a L block. Or Memorizer Miku could stun opponents temporarily and could fully hypnotize them with her final move. stages would be based on popular songs (at least one for each character) plus (if Sega made this hypothetical game) a sonic or space channel 5 stage. There would also probably be a Miku expo stage. a leek could be a healing item.
There would also be some bonus characters with no special moves, basically just alt skins (think Teto from Project Diva), like Neru, Neko Miku from Fortnite, and Brazilian Miku.

How I think Vulcans react to games
Vulcans definitely play games, because rest and relaxation are necessary to maintain cognitive function and games offer a way to do that as well as socialize and strengthen bonds between individuals. Multitasking is only logical. However, there are distinct preferences:
Chess - 2d or 3d doesn't matter, this is the introductory game for vulcan children because it has rigid rules and memorizable strategies and patterns. TBH I think vulcans stop playing chess with each other when the child completes all of the strategies and they only bring out the board again if they need something mindless to do with their hands OR they are playing against a non-vulcan. The non-vulcan basically never wins, but it's more interesting to play against someone who hasn't memorized all of the gambits.
Poker/any gambling card game - like that one other post said, Vulcans descend on poker like a pack of hyena. Competitive applied statistics and emotional suppression? That is their whole deal. Ignoring the illogic of actually gambling, Vulcans clean up any casino.
Tetris - oh you know that vulcans love tetris. The satisfaction of clearing lines and putting blocks in perfect order? Catnip. Vulcatnip.
Tetris 99 - tetris with a side of competition? Hell, yes. Vulcans playing tetris 99 is like when all of those old people were absolutely schooling twitch streamers when the game first came out.
Bejeweled/match 3 - I think vulcans would find it as soothing as a lot of humans do.
Tower defense - an extension of their preference for chess. Now, instead of one opponent with the same pieces, it's ever increasing waves of enemies.
Resource management games - any of them. I feel that that is another extension of chess preference and Vulcans can absolutely clean up at tournaments.
Fighting games - this ones a bit tricky and there's a lot of variation. Some vulcans would definitely be on the 'no items, final destination' side of the argument while others would insist it is illogical to turn items off because you should use everything available to you. Some vulcans prefer simpler fighting games with what they perceive as more logical movesets while others prefer the flexibility and complexity of the more out there games. Also yes, i know vulcans are pacifists, but claiming that playing a game goes against a person's pacifism is illogical.
Team Shooters - imagine going up against a team of Vulcans in CoD or Overwatch. Imagine it. Hilarious and terrifying. They do worse against the casual gamers than the pros just because the casuals are more likely to fuck up in illogical ways.
Then there are the games that I think don't exist in the Vulcan zeitgeist, or only for anthropologists and freaks:
RPGs - specifically single player RPGs, like dating sims. Dating sims would exist on vulcan purely for anthropological reasons, but other RPGs wouldn't catch on at all. They just don't get why someone would pretend to be a character for the purposes of entertaining oneself. Tabletop RPGs are just like doing theater, but with more math, so they can understand that a bit. I can see some Vulcans agreeing to play MMORPGs to make their non-vulcan friends happy, but it's never a big thing in Vulcan culture.
puzzle games - you would think, just as a knee-jerk reaction, that vulcans would love puzzle games. You would be very wrong. Most Humans find the logic in puzzle games lacking, it would be torture to a vulcan.
Hidden object games - this one is polarizing. I'm sure that some Vulcans are VERY good at hidden object games and find the removal of those objects satisfying, but I'm just as sure that other Vulcans find the placement of those objects in the first place illogical enough to be rage-quit inducing... if vulcans were prone to rage-quitting, of course.
Point and Click Adventure games - like puzzle games, but even worse. Vulcan Guantanamo Bay is being forced to play Room Escape games for a week.
#star trek#vulcan culture#vulcans playing games for fun and profit#I also think vulcans would absolutely despise speedrunning#you bought a game and spent all of this time on it to play it as little as possible? the height of illogic

Some Undertale gamer headcanons:
Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.
I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.
Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.
Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).
Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.
Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.
Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.
Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.
Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).
Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?
Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.

Doriana, I dont really get how that tetris game in your master thesis game is supposed to work? how does one 'win', exactly? there was no explanation and now I have no idea what to say for the questionaire haha
Ahh, ok so here's the controls that are available on the itch page! <3
> Block Stacking Puzzle controls
Movement left and right:A and D or Left and Right Arrow Keys Soft drop: Hold S or Down Arrow Hard drop: W or Up Arrow Rotate right: E or X Rotate left: Q or Z Hold: Space bar or Shift
The idea is simply to get the first enemy's health down to 0. which happens when you stack cubes in a row (more health is deducted if u remove multiple at the same time!)
Then continue playing until you get to a black "the end" screen and the game turns off.
And then if you get to the end of the form, there's a Lestrade and ball ch reward 💋♥️✨
Hope that helps!

she was careless. 1 day of happiness was enough for her to forget the problem at hand. work had been enjoyable and there were discussions of displaying her art. she had time between her shifts to work on he last of her commissions. of course it would be ruined by her stalker.
the moment he had read her tweet, he was out the door and going to find her.
he saw e/n lurking around. bastard.
when he did, she was cowering in the dressing room. wordlessly, he wrapped his jacket around her before handing her his cap and a mask.
"wear this." - wonwoo
"thanks, wonwoo... i owe you one." - yn
they made it out with no issues. e/n was gone but who knew when he'd be back?
no matter how much she tried to enjoy her dinner with wonwoo, she couldn't help but feel eyes on her. but wherever she looked, there was no one.
wonwoo watched as yn's typing got even more agitated.
what the hell is going on... is she playing speed tetris or something...
when she finally slammed her phone face down onto the table, he finally asked her what happened.
"family argument. Now I have to bring a very attractive guy to my family reunion next sunday. and I also have to close my art deal by next wednesday and have an auction by thursday. great." - yn
"but why?" - wonwoo
"my parents found out about e/n and blamed me. my younger sister played a victim angel again so i snapped and called her out for being a brat. so now i have to one-up her in fame and a partner." - yn
"any ideas of who you're going to ask?" - wonwoo, crossing his fingers. wait why am i crossing his fingers?
"if any of your friends can help me, that would be great. i'll probably ask mingyu or dino since they're single and famous." - yn
"i'm single and famous" - wonwoo, whispers under his breath
"sorry what did you say?" - yn, leaning in to hear him from across the table
"i said, i'm single and famous. i'll go with you." - wonwoo
a pause. subtle panic. a smile.
"really? oh my days, wonwoo. you're my saviour. i LOVE you. you have the fame AND the face card. chaeyoung is going to quake and crumble!" - yn

synopsis: wonwoo is a popular streamer known for his incredible gaming skills and good looks. He turned heads. but he hates the attention. he just wants to play games and earn money. one day he receives a letter. his apartment’s rent has almost doubled. no warnings at all. his current paycheck from streaming can’t shoulder those bills. he has no choice but to rent out his spare room. to who? a fresh art university graduate who has… 1. a stable job ✅ 2. talent for art and sculpting ✅ 3. many friends ❌ 4. social anxiety ✅ 5. no filter ✅ when his iconic cat logo gets copystriked, she comes to the rescue with a new logo for him. when his apartment’s walls start peeling, she fixes it. whatever he used to struggle with… the empty space... was now filled by her. so what does he *last player standing* do when her ex *enemy spotted* tries to take her back? heh. *clutch* he clutches.

May 2025 Caption Contest Winners!

It's been 2 weeks it's time to announce the winners of the May caption contest!
The captions, as always, were really great so because we had so many good ones, I'll pick 3 honorable mentions and 3 winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ranked).
Each winner will get to choose a prize if they wish (but you don't have to, you can just participate for fun too.) The prizes are extra Steam codes that I've acquired. If you won and want a prize, please contact me.
The honourable mentions can get a prize if any of the winners decline (I will contact you if that happens, the prize order for honourable mentions will be selected randomly so the order you're listed here doesn't mean that's the order I will contact you in).
So here are the entries, organized by the platform they were submitted on:
Fedi/Mastodon:
Adriano: I like this new spin on Tetris Waitworry: clearly she is being a shuriken yassie_j: her body is in the shape of a zigzag
Disqus:
Adriano: "When they go loescape from the military, I go left." Also, it looks like she's pooping directly on Juggernaut's leg. Tsk. Alan D: I will destroy the enemy by the power of interpretive dance and tightly compressed boobage. Leak: "1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8 bulletholes - that does it, I quit!"
Tumblr:
chaoscheebs: Shuriken, honey, that's not how you bring your knees in tight for the Time Warp dance. Alternately, behold the rare seated version of the Pee-Wee Herman dance from the hit film Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. drastrochris: "POOM" is the sound I make as I butt-bounce off of Juggernaut's thigh. genrenommer: Behold! The amazing Human Flea! harukami: Not everyone can butt-blast off the Juggernaut with a perfect poom, but her name is Shuriken, not Shuri-can't. heymerle: Giant over-muscled guys and teeny women in painful-looking poses, floating in mid-air: I can't figure out what's going on, either. hsavinien: With her heels accidentally glued to her butt, the only thing left was to propel herself into battle tits first for a devastating nipple attack. ihavearobotpanda: Shuriken over here living up to her sake and throwing herself at the enemy like... Well, like a shuriken spears-and-tears: "Oh no no no no NO! I *knew* I forgot to turn the stove off! But if I use my secret 'Heels-thrust-into-butt' speed-boost technique, I can make it back before my house burns down!" twilight-owl: She doesn't have time for this! She's late for her interpretive dance class! vo-kopen: Three cuts … it’s the mark of Zorro! Alert Captain Ramon, the fox is in our midst. ward-leon: she saw a great pool party happening in the background and decided to join in - good thing she brought her swimsuit along!
The honorable mentions go to: Adriano, @spears-and-tears, and @twilight-owl
The runner-ups are:
In third place: Alan D: I will destroy the enemy by the power of interpretive dance and tightly compressed boobage.
In second place: @harukami: Not everyone can butt-blast off the Juggernaut with a perfect poom, but her name is Shuriken, not Shuri-can't.
And the winner is... @hsavinien: With her heels accidentally glued to her butt, the only thing left was to propel herself into battle tits first for a devastating nipple attack.
Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everybody who participated! Your captions are, as always, really funny and great!
Stay tuned in June for another caption contest!
If you won and would like a Steam code as a prize, please message me with which prize you would like. If you came in 2nd, message me with 2 choices in order of preference... I'll give you your top choice that hadn't been taken by the other winners. (To clarify, every winner only gets 1 prize, but winners other than the one in first place should give me their list of games in order of preference so if one is taken, I'll give you the next on the list. It makes it easier for me to hand out the prizes.)
If the winner or the runner ups don't claim a prize, then I will pick from the honorable mentions randomly to claim a prize if they want one.
The Steam codes I have available as prizes are for: Aragami, Blacksad: Under the Skin, Gedonia, GoNNER, Hotel Giant 2, Peachleaf Pirates, Rebel Galaxy: Outlaw, Riot: Civil Unrest, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, and Survivalist.

Reviewing every Gameboy NSO game after spending 10 minutes with Each
Alleyway: This is a really solid clone of breakout, I was really impressed that level 2 was able to move so fluidly, I wish the paddle was faster

Baseball: This game desperately needs difficulty options, it was my first time playing and I was down 6-0 in the bottom of the second by the time my 10 minutes were up

Donkey Kong Land: Damn this game is ugly and has bad controls, especially in comparison to the SNES version, Pre-Rendered 3D DOES NOT WORK on an 8 bit system with a 144 by 160 screen and 4 colors

Dr. Mario: It's certainly Dr. Mario, a game I'm not very good at, the NES version is better because it has color

Game & Watch Gallery 3: Excellent collection of G&W Games, Egg is easily the best, the modern versions are beautiful

Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble: Really fun novelty. although I wish the jumping was controlled with a button rather than a gesture, the level design was a little simple, but that's probably just because it was the first few levels

Kirby's Dream Land: Amazing game, beautiful, made it all the way to Kabula before I ran out of time and I really wanted to just finish up the game, the movement is almost perfect even if you are familiar with Modern Kirby, one of the best games on the service

Kirby's Dream Land 2: This is Kirby's Dream Land but more and with Copy Abilities, the level design is a little weaker to accommodate the Animal Buddies, another contender for the best game on the service.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakinging DX: Obviously I cannot get a full grasp of a Zelda game in 10 minutes, I've played the game before and Link's Awakening is an Amazing zelda game, but in 10 minutes I can only really experience the controls, visuals, and music, which are all phenominal.

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages: This is another great game, but the first 10 minutes were nothing but dialog and walking around the first village. the story was set up in a really interesting way, but there was nothing even resembling the action part of this action game

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons: One thing I appreciate about the Oracle games in comparison to Link's Awakening is that they have a text speed option, meaning I was able to get all the way to the first dungeon, and I can confidently day that the controls are exactly the same as Link's Awakening

Mario Golf: I played the regular golf mode rather than the story mode, and it certainly was an 8-bit golf game, the controls were way more intuitive than I expected

Mario Tennis: This is shockingly well put together compared to NES Tennis, what makes a tennis game had clearly evolved since NES Tennis, the spritework is also beautiful.

Metroid II: Return of Samus: The same thing I said about the weakness of the format applies to Metroid as well. That being said, even with my limit of 10 minutes, this is the best atmosphere on the Gameboy, the controls are heaps tighter than Metroid 1, and the Metroid fights are super fun and chaotic.

Super Mario Land: It's a lot like the first Mario Bros, if that game was way shorter, way less polished, and way more creative. The controls are both stiff and slippery, but the enemies and locations in the game are so much more interesting than anything in most Mario games.

Super Mario Land 2: The 6 Golden Coins: If Mario Land 1 is a version of Mario 1 with worse controls and more creative ideas, then Marion Land 2 is Mario World with worse controls and more creative ideas, this is also a contender for the best game on the service

Pokemon Trading Card Game: I didn't even make it through the tutorial battle, but the tutorial has been very informative as someone who didn't even know the most basic aspects of the TCG.

Quest for Camelot: I have no opinion on this game, I spent the entire 10 minutes doing a fetch quest to unlock the sword. The game looks pretty at least

Tetris: This is my personal least favorite version of Retro Tetris, mostly because of how slow moving pieces is, other than that it's retro tetris

Wario Land 3: Very fun and very creative, the sprite art is amazing for an 8-bit system, although I spent the entire time feeling like I was missing a key part of my moveset, there were all sorts of places and things that I couldn't interact with, no matter what kind of form I was in

Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare: This is a much better example of Pre-Rendered 3D than Donkey Kong Land, although it still looks like a total mess. This type of game works really well on the Gameboy with its limited control, but I don't know how much horror you can actually get out of the system's weak screen and limited color palette

Blaster Master: Enemy Below: This is an amazing Blaster Master game, I consider it to be almost on par with the Blaster Master Zero games; the movement is very fun because of the car's springy animation, and the player wasn't too bad either. I was already lost and backtracking within these 10 minutes. Another contender for the best game on the service

BurgerTime Deluxe: This is very simple arcade fun, there really isn't much to talk about, there are slight puzzle elements in how you drop the ingredients, but other than that, it's not that deep. I got a game over right as my time was running out, giving me a high score of 21600.

Castlevania Legends: one of the more faithful "Gameboy versions" on an NES game, it's like a version of Castlevania III with more focus on exploration, and a slower player character. in 10 minutes I did not die, but I also did not see the end of the first level

Gargoyle's Quest: Way more fun than I expected, the wall jumps were really fun to pull off, although jumps in general were a little stiff and the first level was super claustrophobic

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge: These handheld Mega Man games are all super weird, makes me wonder why there aren't either of the Mega Man Xtreme games on the service, which are leagues better, anyways, the first handheld Mega Man games has really stiff controls and god awful level design that makes the NES game it's based on feel positively modern.

Mega Man II: This game loves instakill spikes, this is worse than Mega Man 4 NES, visuals are a lot better than Dr. Wily's Revenge. At least the Slide is here

Mega Man III: Of what I played, this is a huge step up, probably because the charge shot being here reduces the feeling of being ambushed by every enemy that the screen crunch causes, and this one is another graphical step up compared to Mega Man II, you can tell the developers are really starting to get a feel for the Game Boy's Hardware.

Mega Man IV: What the fuck happened? This game barely runs, the controls are downright baffling, the charge shot sends you flying backwards in a precision platformer, the enemies respawn the second they go off screen, it's like this game was made by corpses

Mega Man V: This one is a step back up, way more creative, a huge break from NES Mega Man 5, although it does inherit the slow down issues from Mega Man IV
